Van MOT (class 7)

If your vehicle is 3 years or older you are required by law to have an annual check, a ministry of transport test, more commonly known as the Van MOT Test (Class 7). The purpose of the test is to ensure your vehicle meets the minimum safety level required by law.

It is your responsibility to ensure your vehicle is examined every 12 months. Without a current MOT certificate, you will be unable to drive your vehicle lawfully on a public highway or renew your road fund licence.

Recent computerisation of the MOT Testing system by VOSA means police and mobile camera units can now check remotely to see if your vehicle has a current MOT.

Marshfield Motors are a registered DVSA approved MOT Testing Station in Cardiff

There are a number of components on the interior and exterior of your vehicle that are checked for safety and environmental standards including the body, fuel and exhaust system, seat belts, mirrors, brakes, tyres, lights, steering, windscreen and more.

For a detailed run through of what is checked during your MOT, you can visit the gov.uk website explaining which car parts are checked during your MOT test.

Many people may not realise that the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency, formerly known as VOSA) carefully monitor the pass rates of all garages licenced to undertake MOT testing. This means that any garages with unusual pass rates will be noted and investigated if necessary. This doesn’t mean we must pass or fail a certain number of vehicles.

At Marshfield Motors, we have excellent pass rates. In particular for our return customers who stick with a regular service schedule. We also always provide guidance and advice before an MOT test is due. Therefore, any concerns our customers might have can be discussed and a plan created so that we can get your van to pass.

We offer Car and Light Commercial Vehicle Service and MOT Testing. Please book now 01633 681269 or visit us today for class 4 CAR MOT and class 7 VAN MOT testing.
